Hola, em dic Alexandra, tinc 24 anys i vaig créixer a Torí (Itàlia). Ara fa quasi 2 setmanes que visc a Terrassa i els dies no són suficients per fer tot el que vull fer. Espanya és tan animada com esperava i la ciutat té molt a oferir.
Fins ara he tingut el plaer de conèixer gent que està fent d’aquesta experiència una meravellosa aventura i sens dubte estem en el bon camí per fer bones amistats. Amb els meus companys de pis a l’apartament sempre mengem deliciosos sopars casolans, experimentem noves receptes i de vegades enforno pastissos.

Aquesta primera setmana a Espanya va ser el meu aniversari i va ser emocionant – vaig tenir la sort de celebrar-ho a Barcelona el cap de setmana de la Mercè: un festival d’una setmana que té lloc als carrers de la ciutat amb diferents actes gratuïts. i concerts. Aquí he ballat amb música catalana en directe i he menjat deliciós menjar local.
La ciutat de Barcelona és tan plena de vida i m’encanta estar en un entorn tan dinàmic. Una altra cosa que agraeixo molt és l’arquitectura excepcional de la ciutat: m’encanta caminar i admiro els edificis històrics.

Juntament amb altres voluntaris he explorat la ciutat de Terrassa i m’ha impressionat especialment un bonic mirador de la ciutat molt a prop del nostre pis (que em va fer sentir molt afortunada ja que estimo la natura). Vam fer un pícnic allà i vam escoltar música de tots els nostres països d’origen mentre observavem la posta de sol.

Fins ara em comunico en anglès la majoria del temps. Tanmateix, tinc moltes ganes d’aprendre espanyol aviat perquè pugui practicar l’escriptura al meu proper blog. Per aprendre, he agafat en préstec llibres de la biblioteca local per poder llegir i ampliar el meu vocabulari, i de tant en tant a taula fem un petit test d’endevinar paraules en castellà (a vegades es fa bastant divertit).

Sóc voluntaria com a Dissenyadora Gràfica a La Vibria Intercultural i fins ara estic treballant en un projecte en el qual m’estic divertint molt amb l’estil de disseny i la llibertat del brief. Tinc moltes ganes de dissenyar per a uns quants grans projectes properament. Estigueu atents.

En poques paraules, aquesta ha estat la meva setmana fins ara a Catalunya, si pogués triar tres paraules per descriure-la seria: animada, alegre i intercultural.

Hello, my name is Alexandra, I am 24 and I grew up in Turin (Italy). I have now been living in Terrassa for almost 2 weeks and days are not long enough to do all that I want to do. Spain is as lively as I expected it to be and the city has a lot to offer.

So far I had the plasure of meeting people who are making this experience a wonderful adventure and we are certainly on the right path to make good friendships. With my flatmates in the apartment we always eat tasty homemade dinners, we experiment new recipes and sometimes I bake cakes. 

This first week in Spain it happened to be my birthday and it was thrilling – I was lucky enough to celebrate it in Bercelona the weekend of La Mercè: a week long festival that takes place in the streets of the city with a variety of free events and concerts. Here I have danced to Catalan live music and ate delicious local food. 
The city of Barcelona is so full of life and I love being in such a dynamic environment. Another thing I greatly appreciate is the outstanding architecture across the city – I love walking and admire the historical buildings.

Along with other volunteers I have explored the city of Terrassa and I have been particularly impressed by a beautiful viewpoint of the city really close to our apartment ( which made me feel very lucky as I love nature ). We had a picnic here and listened to music from all of our home countries while watching the sunset. 

So far I communicate in English the majority of the time, therefore I am writing this blog in English, however I am really keen on learning Spanish soon so I can practice the writing on my next blog. In order to learn I have borrowed books from the local library so I can read and expand my vocabulary, and every so often at the dinner table we do a little quiz of guessing spanish words (it gets quite funny sometimes).

I volunteer as a Graphic Designer in La Vibria Intercultural and so far I am working on a project in which I am having a lot of fun with the design style and the freedom of the brief. I am looking forward to design for a few BIG projects coming soon.. Stay tuned.

In a nutshell this was my week so far in Catalunya, if I could choose three words to describe it would be: lively, cheerful and intercultural.
