Em dic Aurelia, tinc 22 anys, i sóc d’un petit poble prop de Tolosa, a França 🇫🇷. Vaig començar el meu treball com a voluntària amb La Víria Intercultural al setembre, i m’encanta. Tot i que equilibrar dues missions pot ser de vegades complicat, em sento apassionada pel que faig.

My name is Aurelia, I’m 22 years old, and I’m from a small village near Toulouse in France 🇫🇷. I began my volunteer work with La Víria Intercultural in September, and I absolutely love it. While balancing two missions can sometimes be challenging, I feel passionate about what I do.

Vaig triar aquesta missió perquè s’adapta bé a la meva personalitat, i també inclou un element de creació de podcasts, el qual em va cridar l’atenció. La meva primera visita a Espanya, concretament a Barcelona, em va deixar enamorada del país. Durant un viatge a Granada i Barcelona, em vaig dir: “Vull viure aquí.” Va ser més o menys en aquell moment que la meva millor amiga em va parlar del programa ESC, i tot va caure en el seu lloc.

També vaig venir a Espanya per deixar enrere alguns records dolorosos relacionats amb un trauma psicològic. Mudar-me aquí ha estat una forma de curació per a mi. Ara, puc dir amb tota sinceritat que, tot i les barreres idiomàtiques, em sento realment a casa aquí.

I chose this mission because it fits well with my personality, and it also includes a podcast creation element, which intrigued me. My first visit to Spain, specifically to Barcelona, left me in love with the country. During a trip to Granada and Barcelona, I told myself, “I want to live here.” It was around that time that my best friend told me about the ESC program, and everything fell into place.

I also came to Spain to leave behind some painful memories related to a psychological trauma. Moving here has been a form of healing for me. Now, I can honestly say that, despite the language barriers, I feel really at home here.

Sobre mi

Soc una persona extrovertida quan estic amb gent, però tinc tendència a sentir-me sola força sovint. De vegades em costa expressar les meves necessitats o sentir-me integrada, però he aconseguit trobar pau aquí. M’encanta treballar amb La Víria Intercultural; l’equip ha estat un gran suport per a mi, especialment en moments de dubte.

De vegades tinc dificultats amb la meva confiança en mi mateixa, però les meves missions m’han ajudat molt a créixer. Soc responsable d’organitzar i gestionar l’esdeveniment “Dijous Intercultural” al Bauman Bar, i tinc la llibertat de crear podcasts com vulgui. Ha estat una experiència increïble.

About Me

I’m an outgoing person when I’m around people, but I tend to be lonely a lot of the time. It’s sometimes hard to express my needs or feel integrated, but I’ve managed to find some peace here. I love working with La Víria Intercultural; the team has been a huge support for me, especially in moments of doubt.

I sometimes struggle with self-confidence, but my missions have really helped me grow. I’m responsible for organizing and managing the “Dijous Intercultural” event at Bauman Bar, and I have the freedom to create podcasts as I wish. It’s been an amazing experience.

RADIO NOWHERE+

Gràcies al meu treball, formo part d’un programa de formació anomenat RADIO NOWHERE+, que té lloc a Espanya, Itàlia i França. La nostra missió principal és recollir sons a diferents ciutats al voltant del tema de la interculturalitat. Aquesta formació ha estat molt enriquidora, tant pel que fa a les experiències compartides com per la gent que he conegut.
Un dels moments més destacats va ser un dinar en un restaurant libanès, on vam entrevistar el xef. Va ser una conversa molt significativa. Va parlar de la seva família, que s’havia quedat al Líban malgrat la guerra, i va compartir els motius pels quals va triar França. Aquest encontre em va ajudar a sentir-me més còmoda amb els valors canviants del meu propi país i em va aportar una sensació de confort.

RADIO NOWHERE+

Thanks to my work, I am part of a training program called RADIO NOWHERE+, which takes place in Spain, Italy, and France. Our main mission is to collect sounds in different cities around the theme of interculturality. This training has been incredibly enriching, both in terms of shared experiences and the people I’ve met.

One of the highlights was a lunch at a Lebanese restaurant, where we interviewed the chef. It was such a meaningful conversation. He spoke about his family who had stayed in Lebanon despite the war and shared why he chose France. This encounter helped me feel more at ease with the changing values in my own country, and it brought me a sense of comfort.

Descobrint Tarragona i Cambrils

La vida també em va portar una meravellosa amiga colombiana que viu a Cambrils, i a través d’ella vaig descobrir Tarragona i Cambrils. Per ser sincera, m’encanten aquests dos petits pobles. Tarragona, en particular, és molt rica en arquitectura romànica. Vaig tenir l’oportunitat d’explorar el circ romà, les muralles i la Torre del Rei Quis, que estan increïblement ben conservades. Un dels moments més inoblidables va ser quan vaig visitar la terrassa de la Torre del Rei i vaig veure una posta de sol que semblava treta d’un quadre.

Discovering Tarragona & Cambrils

Life also brought me a wonderful Colombian friend who lives in Cambrils, and through them, I discovered Tarragona and Cambrils. To be honest, I absolutely love these two small towns. Tarragona, in particular, is rich in Romanesque architecture. I had the chance to explore the Roman circus, the ramparts, and the Tower of the King’s Quis, which are incredibly well preserved. One of the most unforgettable moments was when I visited the rooftop of the Tower of Kings and watched a sunset that looked like something out of a painting.

La joia de viure a Terrassa i Barcelona

Una altra raó per la qual m’agrada viure a Terrassa és la seva proximitat a Barcelona, una ciutat que m’apassiona. Barcelona em sembla una segona casa, en part perquè és la terra del meu pintor favorit, Joan Miró. Em sento profundament connectada amb el lloc on moltes de les seves creacions van cobrar vida.

Per a mi, Barcelona és sinònim de conèixer gent, relaxació i una sensació aclaparadora de pau. La ciutat no només és preciosa, sinó també increïblement inclusiva, cosa que és molt important per a mi com a membre de la comunitat LGBT+. Tot i que acostumo a passar més temps a Barcelona que a Terrassa, ara probablement podràs endevinar el per què!

The Joy of Living in Terrassa and Barcelona

Another reason I enjoy living in Terrassa is its proximity to Barcelona, a city I am truly passionate about. Barcelona feels like a second home to me, partly because it’s the land of my favorite painter, Joan Miró. I feel deeply connected to the place where many of his creations came to life.

For me, Barcelona is all about meeting people, relaxation, and an overwhelming sense of peace. The city is not only beautiful but also incredibly inclusive, which is important to me as a member of the LGBT+ community. Although I tend to spend more time in Barcelona than in Terrassa, you can probably guess why now!

That’s all for now! I have to go clean up before heading back to Barcelona.
