Sóc jo de nou, la vostra noia austríaca 🇦🇹. Així que ja hem passat cinc mesos junts i deixeu-me dir-vos, encara hi ha molta cosa passant a la meva vida com a voluntària.

Bon dia noies y noias

It’s me again, your Austrian 🇦🇹 girl. So now we’ve already got five months behind us and let me tell you, there’s still a lot going on in my life as a volunteer.

A Fupar, l’organització on treballo, tot va bé. Aquest any vaig participar a la “Cabalgata de Reyes” amb alguns dels nois. Per aquells que no sàpiguen què és una cabalgata, podeu imaginar-ho com una gran desfilada per la ciutat de Terrassa on diferents grups de persones porten disfresses i llancen molts dolços a la gent que mira la desfilada. Va ser molt divertit. Com que vam col·laborar amb una orquestra, jo vaig tocar la bateria.

A part d’això, encara gaudeixo de sortir amb els altres voluntaris i fer moltes coses. Per exemple, participar a esdeveniments a Terrassa com el Carnaval i més tard també la celebració de la mort del Carnaval, on és tradició menjar pa amb sardines rostides. A més a més, una de les meves coses preferides és fer excursions i explorar els voltants de Terrassa. Hi ha llocs molt bonics que es poden visitar, com Montseny, la Mola i, per descomptat, Montserrat.

I finalment vaig poder fer la meva Nit Austríaca al Baumann Bar. Estava emocionada de fer-ho, i la meva germana va venir a ajudar-me a cuinar plats tradicionals austríacs i a preparar un qüestionari. També em va portar el meu Dirndl de casa perquè el pogués portar durant l’esdeveniment. Ens ho vam passar molt bé preparant-ho tot i presentant Àustria als altres.

In Fupar, the organization I am working at, everything is going well. I joined the “Cabalgata de Reyes” this year with some of the guys. For the ones that don’t know what a cabalgata is, you can imagine it as a big parade through the city of Terrassa where different groups of people wear a costume and throw lots of sweets at the people watching the parade. It was super fun. Since we collaborated with an orchestra, I played the drums.

Other than that, I still enjoy going around with the other volunteers and doing many kinds of things. For example, joining events in Terrassa like the Carnival and later also the celebration of the Carnival’s death where it is a tradition to eat bread with roasted sardines. Furthermore, one of my favourite things to do is to go on hikes and explore the surroundings of Terrassa. There are some very nice spots you can visit like Montseny, la Mola and, of course, Montserrat.

Aaand I finally got to do my Austrian Night in Baumann Bar. I was excited to do so, and my sister was here to help me cooking traditional Austrian dishes and to prepare a quiz. She also brought me my Dirndl from home so I could wear it during the event. We had a lot of fun preparing everything and to present Austria to the others.

Al final vaig conèixer més gent local, cosa que em motiva a parlar i aprendre més català. M’agrada molt parlar aquesta llengua i també he començat a escoltar cançons en català, algunes d’elles són realment genials!

I sabeu què nois? M’he unit als Minyons, un grup força conegut de castellers a Catalunya. Acabo de començar a unir-me a ells, però espero que algun dia podré pujar més amunt a la torre. Ho aconseguiré? Mmm diguem que les probabilitats són baixes, però encara intento enganyar-me amb la idea de poder-ho fer, haha.

In the end I got to meet more local people, which motivates me to speak and learn Catalan more and more. I really enjoy talking the language and I also started to listen to Catalan songs, some of them are really great!

And guess what guys, I joined the Minyons, a quite well-known group of castellers in Catalunya. I just started joining them, but I hope someday I’ll be able to go further up the tower. Will I make it? Mmh let’s say the chances are low, but I’m still trying to delude myself with the thought of being able to do it haha.
