Fa nou mesos que visc a Terrassa i ja només me’n queden dos. La segona meitat del meu projecte ha estat molt dinàmica i em sento molt afortunada d’haver pogut viure i interactuar amb tot el que m’ha vingut. Abans d’entrar en detalls, he de compartir el desenvolupament més important d’aquests nou mesos: ara tinc els cabells molt més llargs que quan vaig arribar al setembre, i… fins i tot puc fer-me trenes. Tinc la sort de compartir pis amb una mestra de les trenes, l’Elena, i he pogut aprofitar les seves habilitats.

Bon Dia,

I’ve been living in Terrassa for nine months now, and I have only two more left to go. The second half of my project has been dynamic and I’ve felt very lucky to experience and interact with all the things and people coming my way. Before I dive into all of that, I have to share the most important development of these nine months: my hair is now much longer than it was when I arrived in September, aaand I can even get braids. I’m lucky enough to live in the same flat with a master at braiding hair, Elena, and I’ve been benefiting from her skills.

Fer voluntariat a La Víbria ha estat, com a mínim, intens. Al maig vaig tenir l’oportunitat de cofacilitar l’intercanvi juvenil MOVING amb la Tania i l’Ailen, i va ser un dels moments més memorables de la meva estada aquí! També m’he anat sentint més còmoda amb la ràdio. VolunTalks ja té més contingut i fins i tot vam enregistrar un parell d’episodis en directe sobre Terrassa Tria Futur i Terrassa Fest. Un altre projecte emocionant en què vaig participar va ser la creació d’un joc de taula sobre migració i interculturalitat amb els nostres socis. Al juny vam viatjar a Bulgària per fer un esdeveniment multiplicador del joc, i des de llavors, hem estat intentant presentar-lo en diferents espais. Al juliol el jugarem en un dels últims Dijous Interculturals d’aquest estiu, i després m’uniré a l’equip a Sèrbia per tancar el projecte. A més, vaig participar en una game jam a Bretanya, on vaig provar de crear videojocs per primera vegada; i després vaig ajudar en una game jam local a Terrassa amb el nombre més alt d’adolescents catalans que he vist mai en una mateixa sala. En general, gran part del meu voluntariat ha girat entorn de la gamificació d’eines educatives, i ha estat tot un viatge que m’ha entusiasmat.

Volunteering at La Víbria has been eventful, to say the least. In May I had a chance to facilitate youth exchange MOVING with Tania and Ailen, and it was one of the most memorable highlights from my time here! I’ve gotten more comfortable with the radio, as well. VolunTalks now has more content and we even recorded a couple of live episodes on Terrassa Tria Futur and Terrassa Fest. Another exciting project I was involved in was creating a board game about migration and interculturality with our partners. In June we traveled to Bulgaria for a multiplier event for the game and since then, we have been trying to present it in different spaces. In July, we will play it at one of the last Dijous Interculturals of this summer, and then I’ll be joining the team in Serbia to wrap everything up. Additionally, I participated in a game jam in Bretagne where I tried out video game creation for the first time; and then I helped out at a local game jam in Terrassa with the highest number of Catalan teenagers I have ever seen in one room. In general, a lot of my volunteering time was about gamification of learning tools, and I was excited for the whole journey. 

Ara que el final del projecte és a tocar, sento moltes ganes d’aprofitar l’experiència al màxim, passar temps amb la gent que trobaré a faltar i gaudir intensament dels bons moments. Però també sento una certa nostàlgia, perquè m’adono que el temps aquí s’està acabant. Ja he hagut d’acomiadar-me d’algunes persones els últims mesos, i com que no sóc gaire bona en això, hauré de preparar-me per als últims comiats que vindran al juliol i a l’agost. Hi ha una tristesa suau en tancar aquest capítol de la meva vida, però el regust que queda és d’agraïment per haver-lo pogut viure.

Alhora, intento començar a veure quins seran els meus pròxims passos. Estic intentant no deixar-me portar només pel que vingui, sinó també fer alguns plans. Sigui el que sigui el que arribi, sé que serà una aventura, i intentaré que sigui una de bona per viure.

Now that the end of the project is just around the corner, I’ve been feeling a strong urge to enjoy my experiences here, spend a lot of time with people I’ll miss and just soak up the good times as much as possible. But I’ve also been feeling kind of blue because I’m realizing that the time here is coming to an end. I’ve already had to say some goodbyes in the last months and since I’m not the best person at that, I’ll need to brace myself for the final goodbyes to come in July and August. There’s a soft sadness that comes along with closing down this chapter of my life, but the aftertaste of it is feeling gratitude that I got to live and experience it. 

At the same time, I’m trying to scope out my next steps. I’m trying to not go too much with the flow and actually shape some plans. Whatever comes, I know it will be an adventure, I’ll just try to make it a good one to live through.
