Description:

“The roaring twenty-twenties. Dancing for inclusion.” It is a PBA born from the common interest of the partners to explore the use of dance as an inclusive non-formal education tool. Dance is an art form in which the human body becomes the means to feel, understand and communicate ideas, feelings and experiences.

The name of the project refers to the decade of 1920’s when the explosion of dances as lindy hop, charleston… became a world spread movement connected with critical thinking and counterculture. As we are entering a new 20’s decade we recall the spirit of this days with this project by recognising dance as Non Formal Educational tool.

Dance is a common language, which crosses borders, cultures and languages and is deeply rooted in young audiences, regardless of their origin. But to what extent is dance present in formal and non-formal education systems? Are we aware of the possibilities it  have as an educational tool?

Dance provides a way of learning that allows you to develop communication skills, problem solving techniques and creative and critical thinking skills along with the so-called kinesthetic skills. Dance, can be used not as a goal in itself but as a means and / or a tool in formal and non-formal education, to develop skills to solve individual and group problems, learning concepts and understanding of all kinds of topics , linking movement activities with social issues that allow facilitators to resort to deep-rooted body-kinesthetic intelligence in young people.

30 youth workers from 13 European countries will meet in Terrassa, Spain, in June 2020 with the aim of sharing knowledge, initiatives and projects that consider good practices in the field of dance as an inclusion tool and reflect on the potential of kinesthetic learning in non-formal education. At the end of the meet

ing they will have a compilation of materials, ideas and tools that they will put into practice in their local context and that they will later share in the project blog.

The seminar is expected to result in the creation of a European network of associations and entities that work with dance as a non-formal education tool, creating a multiplier effect of future projects and initiatives aimed at young people.

Sessions will include sharing of good practices, debates and discussions, project development sessions and a bit of lindyhop every morning. 😉
