Em dic Gvantsa i vinc de Geòrgia.
In english:
My name is Gvantsa and I am coming from Georgia. I have been planning to do an EVS for several years already and now I am very happy to say that finally I am part of the EVS Family, family of La Vibria Intercultural. It has been two weeks already since I am working and living in Terrassa, city is small and cosy and people are very warm, therefore I adapted very easily. Besides, I am sharing flat with three other volunteers, who are creating very friendly and positive atmosphere at home too. During my first week of EVS, I met my mentor Evelyn, who is living and working in Terrassa. She is super positive person and as she has spent all her life in the town, Evelyn knows everything about it. She showed me around the city. We visited different places like – Parc de Vallparadis, Masia Freixa, local churches… Also we went to the little and very beautiful lake of Terrassa, not far away from the town with her father and sister. We spend evening together with the nice view of the lake, playing with the dogs. My mentor helped me to register for the local library as well, so now I can borrow books as in English as in Spanish or Catalan.
Beside of the fact, that working for La Vibria is very interesting and it provides me with great experiences in youth work. My staying in Terrassa is also very cheerful and memorable. Last Friday we went to Soul Pub where we took part in monthly quiz competition. Each round of the quiz had different topics. It was pleasant surprise, for me when I found out that one of the questions on the topic of food was about Georgian cuisine. Even though we took third place, the evening was very funny and unforgettable.
On Saturday, other volunteers and I visited concert organized by ¨BAUMANNLAB¨. Musical bands mostly were coming from Terrassa, they were amateur youngsters, not very professionals but they had individuality and their style. Of course, for us it was very fascinating listening to Spanish and Catalan music. At the end of the evening, there was great show of traditional Catalan ¨Correfog¨, it was very unusual for me and I literally loved it with all the energy and festive Spirit it brought among us…
At the end, I can say that first weeks of my volunteering were full of great experiences and memories. So now, I am very much looking forward to future challenges of my EVS…
