Ya han pasado dos meses desde que estoy aquí, en Terrassa, Cataluña haciendo mi servicio de voluntariado en la oficina de La Víbria. El tiempo ha pasado volando sin darnos cuenta, pero, por otro lado, he vivido muchas cosas y estoy acumulando recuerdos asombrosos, pero creo que esto es solo el comienzo…
Como somos voluntarios del SVE, la agencia nacional española nos ofrece una formación a la llegada para poder ser más conscientes de cuáles son los objetivos principales para nosotros como voluntarios, cuáles son nuestros derechos y obligaciones, y además nos da la oportunidad de conocer a otros voluntarios de distintas partes de España que realizan otros proyectos de voluntariado. En esta ocasión, la formación a la llegada tuvo lugar en Girona. Así que al comienzo de la semana los 4 nos dirigimos a Girona. La ciudad es increíble, especialmente el casco antiguo con calles estrechas, caminos de piedra y espíritu de la época medieval. Hay muchos lugares de interés para visitar como el puente construido por Eiffel, la Catedral de Girona y la hermosa costa del río Onyar. Uno de los detalles más increíbles de Girona para mí fue que es una ciudad en la que se rodaron varias escenas de la serie de televisión “Juego de tronos” y como soy muy fan de la serie, la ciudad ha ganado otro gran significado para mí.
El primer día de la formación fue sobre todo para conocerse unos a otros y de formar un equipo. Me lo pasé muy bien durante el proceso de conocer a nuevas personas de diferentes partes de Europa y África, ya que hubo participantes procedentes de Túnez y Egipto. Fue realmente interesante escuchar historias sobre su trabajo y estilo de vida durante el SVE. Algunos de ellos viven i hacen su voluntariado en pueblos ecológicos con menos calefacción, agua caliente e internet limitados, etc .; una chica contó que trabajaba con chimpancés y con otros animales, otra con refugiados, etc. Me sorprendió bastante la diversidad de los proyectos de SVE y también la diversidad del grupo de personas de nuestra formación.
La formación a la llegada también fue interesante y útil, ya que discutimos temas interculturales, hablamos sobre las dificultades que encontramos durante nuestro SVE, tuvimos una sesión sobre el pasado socio-histórico de España y también una clase de español. Además, jugamos a la Caza del tesoro – una gincana en Girona en el tercer día de nuestra estancia allí durante la cual pudimos comunicarnos con los lugareños y descubrir más sobre la ciudad y las personas que viven allí. También llegó la hora de que usáramos nuestra creatividad y habilidades sociales y pasáramos más tiempo juntos fuera del albergue. Al final del día presentamos los resultados de gincana con una actuación, que sin duda fue una parte más divertida del día.
Vale la pena destacar el ambiente amistoso y muy positivo entre los participantes. Lo pasamos muy bien juntos, fuimos varias veces al pub después de las sesiones, también hicimos una fiesta al lado de las murallas de Girona, etc. No quiero olvidarme de “Godzi”, el 26º participante de la formación, un sapo muy sabio y motivado que tenía un papel fundamental durante las sesiones :).
En general, como valoración de la semana, diría estuvo llena de alegría, grandes recuerdos, experiencia y conocimiento. Tuvimos la oportunidad de conocer a grandes formadores y la oportunidad de hablar con un representante de la agencia nacional española. La parte más genial de la semana fue conocer a otros voluntarios del SVE que hacen cosas increíbles para hacer de este mundo un lugar mejor y también para promover el valor del voluntariado.

It has been two month already since I am here, in Terrassa, Catalonia and doing my volunteering service for La Vibria office. Time literally flied without realizing, but on the other hand I have experienced a lot and have gathered amazing memories, but I believe this is just a beginning…
As we are EVS volunteers, national agency of Spain provides us with an arrival training course in order to become more aware what is the main aim and objectives for us as volunteers, what are our rights and obligations and besides it gives us a chance to meet other volunteers from different part of the Spain with different volunteering program. This time, arrival training course took part in Girona. So at the beginning of the week we, 4 of us, headed to Girona. The city is amazing, especially old town with narrow streets, stone paths and spirit of medieval time. You can find many sightings like bridge constructed by Eiffel, Cathedral of Girona, and beautiful coast of river Onyar. One of the magnificent facts about Girona for me was that, it is a city where several scenes of TV series ´´Game of Thrones´´ were filmed. So, as I am huge fan of the GOT, the city gained another great meaning for me.
First day of the training course was more about getting to know each other and for building a team. I enjoyed a lot the process of meeting new people from different part of Europe and Africa too- as there were participants coming from Tunisia and Egypt. It was really interesting hearing stories about work and way of living during their EVS. Some of them were living and volunteering in Eco Village with less heating, limited hot water, internet and etc.; one girl was working with chimpanzees and with other animal, one with refugees and etc. I was pretty much amazed about the diversity of EVS projects and also diversity of the group of people of our training course.
Arrival TC itself was also interesting and useful, we discussed intercultural issues, talked about difficulties we came across during our EVS, had session about socio-historical past of Spain and also had Spanish language course. Besides, we played Treasure hunt – Gimcana in Girona on the third day of our staying there. So, we were able to communicate to the locals and to find out more about the city and people living in there. Besides it was time for us to use our creativity and social skills and to spend more time with each other outside the Hostel. At the end of the day we presented results of Gimcana by the performance which was one more funny part of the day.
It is worth to point out the friendly and very positive atmosphere among participants. We spent great time together, went several times to the pub after the sessions also had party at the walls of Girona and etc. I do not want to forget about ´´Godzi´´ – 26th participant of the TC, very wise and motivated toad who was playing decent role during the sessions.
To evaluate the week, it was full of joy, amazing memories, experience and knowledge. We had an opportunity to meet great trainers and chance to talk to representative of national agency of Spain. The most amazing part of the week was getting to know fellow EVS volunteers who do amazing things to make this world better place and also to promote the value of volunteering.
