ESC OPPORTUNITY: Visual Communication and Youth work in La Víbria Intercultura

WHO ARE WE?

La Víbria Intercultural is a non-profit association founded in 2003 in Terrassa, committed to promoting interculturality and combating discrimination through socio-educational, non-formal education projects. Over the years, it has established strong roots in the local area, building networks with organizations from diverse sectors at both local and national levels. It currently has a team of thirteen professional staff members and four European volunteers (ESC) who support the organization’s activities.

In addition to its local work, La Víbria specializes in the management of European projects, including exchanges, training, internships, and volunteering programs, as well as in disseminating information on international mobility. It provides guidance to young people aged 13 to 35 on international mobility opportunities through various youth spaces and offices.

Local Projects:

Greenfluencers:
We have a local group of young volunteers interested in environmental activism who meet regularly to carry out awareness-raising actions and information campaigns on environmental issues.

WHAT TYPES OF VOLUNTEERING WE OFFER

We are searching for 2 ESC volunteers to support us in our daily visual communication tasks to promote the activities and the projects of our NGO.

  • A volunteer with a graphic design profile:

Design of posters, logos, flyers, books, and other types of promotional material, design of infographics and animated videos, design of templates for the other workers of la Víbria… using the Adobe suite softwares (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) and Canva.

  • A volunteer with a community management profile:

Taking pictures, filming and editing videos from La Víbria projects and activities, creation and publication of content like reels, photos, stories for our social media (Instagram, Tiktok, Youtube), publication of articles in our website.

The two volunteers will support the promotion of youth mobility, preparing talks in high schools and youth centers to share their experience. They will also be involved in the organization of local and international activities as the “Intercultural Thursday”, public events that they will have to organize every week. Finally, they will give support to the office team on administrative tasks, like searching and contacting partners, preparing documents, writing and answering emails.

REQUIREMENTS:

For the graphic design profile:

  • To have knowledge and skills in graphic design and video editing.
  • To know how to use Adobe suite software (Illustrator, Photoshop, Indesign…) and Canva.
  • To be creative, with a good graphic design culture and to keep up with visual trends. 
  • To be able to develop content and audiovisual materials.

For the community management profile:

  • To have interest in taking photos and videos of the activities happening in La Víbria (with her/his own phone)
  • To know how to create little interactives videos like reels for Instagram and TikTok
  • To have skills in social media management
  • To have some knowledge about photos and video editing softwares (Capcut, Canva)

For the two volunteers:

  • To have a good level of English.
  • To like working in a team
  • To be proactive, so can propose her/his own ideas and designs.
  • To have an interest in learning more about international mobility opportunities for youth and international projects.
  • To want to develop new skills in facilitation, dynamization of activities, and non-formal education.
  • To be creative and participate in creating new ideas for activities that are beneficial for the association.
  • To be motivated to learn Catalan (the language course will be Catalan).

DESIRED COMPETENCIES:

  • To have some knowledge about website management (using wordpress).
  • To have interest in creating and dynamizing littles intercultural activities such as language exchanges, cultural quizzes, presentation of countries…
  • To have some knowledge of Spanish.

WORKING PLACE

La Víbria Intercultural Office: Carrer Pantà 75, 08221, Terrassa

WORKING HOURS

27h per week from Monday to Friday with 2 days for working from home

Weekends are normally free, except for some occasions when we participate in fairs, local activities or host international projects.  You will always get 2 consecutive days off per week.

LANGUAGE COURSE

3h per week of Catalan course

HOLIDAYS

The volunteer enjoys 2 extra days of holidays per month worked, so in this project there will be a total of 22 days of vacation:
– 12 days are mandatory in Christmas, Easter
– 10 days will be free to choose.

ACCOMODATION:

Fully equipped flat in the central area of Terrassa shared with other ESC volunteers. Some rooms are private, some shared with another person. Depending on the flat, it will be 15/20 minutes by walk from the office. Some bikes will be available to use and share with the other volunteers in the flats.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT:

Pocket and food money: 340€/month
